Scope of work
Logistics planning, collection, crating, road transport, air freight, export customs clearance, provision of Maurice Ward’s T1 customs transit bond (the consignment is under customs control), delivery and co-ordination of exhibition.

Our Client, Lismore Castle Arts approached us to bring in their main gallery exhibition for 2018 from New York. The lending gallery, Hauser & Wirth provided the list of exhibits. The sculptural elements were large scale. Working with our partner agent in NY we had the works collected and reinforced crates made and packed. We used an Air Freighter service due to the scale and size of the works…trucking the shipment by road, with airfreight on a direct service out of Chicago. The shipment had full Airport supervision in ORD to ensure it was on the flight and handled correctly door to door. It arrived in Dublin Airport on a Saturday morning and using our largest Art Spec truck our HGV Technicians/Drivers, Peter and Garrett delivered the consignment safely to Lismore Castle Arts on Saturday pm. Customs cleared without a hitch with a tight schedule the crates arrived on time for installation. The exhibition in beautiful Lismore is stunning!

Description of the exhibition
No More Water the first major solo exhibition by Rashid Johnson in Ireland, encompassing large scale works on paper, 2 film works, and several new sculptural works made for the gardens.

Johnson works predominantly in mixed media sculptures, paintings, and drawings, combining bare materials such as mirror, wood, and shea butter with loaded iconic objects including record covers, CB radios, historical books, and common domestic objects. Throughout his career, Johnson has explored the ways in which we form our sense of belonging to races and communities, investigating the relationship between familiar objects and identity.

For Lismore, Rashid is making a group of new sculptures employing his minimalist three-dimensional steel black grids, which will house a variety of objects including busts painted to resemble shea butter, and will act as a living greenhouse as plants in the gardens begin to intertwine with the sculpture over the summer months.

Within the gallery, Rashid responds to the vast gallery space by creating his largest drawings to date.

The exhibition space will be book-ended by two film works, shot in 16mm and transferred to digital.

The exhibition to be accompanied later in the summer by a fully illustrated catalogue, featuring install images of the exhibition at Lismore.
