Meet Hugh McGettigan, one of our Fine Art Shipping Coordinators. A native of the North-West of Ireland, Sligo, Hugh studied a Diploma in Art and Design in Limavady, completed a BA in Visual Arts Practice at IADT and an Erasmus in Kuvataideakatemia in Helsinki.
Prior to joining our team full-time, he worked as a part-time art technician, as well as an art educator. As an artist he has a keen interest in both creativity and technology. Hugh has a business and customer service background, helping out with the family bed and breakfast. This combined with his creative problem solving has led Hugh to embrace the technical and logistical side of the artworld.
Hugh loves the team element of his role, “… every job that comes in has it’s own needs and complications”. He is passionate about working as part of a team and working with his colleagues to find creative solutions from multiple sources. “Open communication between different members of the team from every part of the company means problems are worked through lending expertise from multiple sources and ensuring each job is handled in the best way possible. It’s a really great way to learn from each other and get multiple solutions.”
He enjoys learning from every experience in life and how a lesson from one experience can come back around and help you in a completely different situation down the line. Hugh is driven by his passion for making things with his hands, be it creating sculptural pieces, pottery, cooking, gardening and DIYing.
